Synopsis

Told from dual points of view, Elle and J must figure out how to bring down an MC, steer clear of flying bullets in Missouri and south of the border, all the while making sure Fernie is out of the line of fire. Elle's love for J is tested, as is her belief that she will ever find "normal" with the man she loves.

J is determined to make things right so he can give Elle the "normal" life she deserves. He just has to stay alive to make it happen. With his own personal sun by his side, he knows nothing is impossible. That is, until the bullets are redirected from his head to Elle's.

Elle: I held my hand up, showing him the ring he’d put on me. “This is us,” I told him. It was more than a ring. Well, to me it was more. “I promise to love you ‘til the day I die.”

J:"Us, baby. This is us. I'll love you 'til the sun ceases to shine."

Review

Well this was a day I thought would never come….the ending to Elle and J’s story.  Finally, so many questions are answered, loose ends are tied up and the future can finally be seen through all the fog and distractions.

US also goes into further detail about Fernie, Isabel, Chris, Dig, Link, Cash and Son.  We see multiple POV’s mainly Elle and J but snuck in there is also Chris and Fernie. This book delves more into the life of J and his dealings with the MC and taking back what is rightfully his.

"When it’s you and me, the ice on my heart melts,

and it becomes yours.

You own my heart, my love… me.

I’m in this with you now, and I’ll die for you,

just like you will me.

I can’t lose you again.

A life without you isn’t an option.”

Through the year, we have seen so many emotions blossoming between these two lovers and finally it seems like they know exactly what they want – no more questions, no more second guessing.  We see a more sensitive side with J in US – where he worries about his past and if Elle will accept him for who he was.

So many feelings were brought out while reading this…suspense, love, hate, loyalty, devastation, humor, sadness and happiness.  Ms Eck has a way of writing that is “in your face”…. her books aren’t fluffy or sugar-coated.  Her heroines are strong willed, stubborn, and real.  They aren’t millionaires or perfect but instead they are the girl who could be walking down the street or the short order cook at your favorite restaurant.

"Choose me to spend your life with.

Choose me to love.

Choose me to be the man you let love you until you take your last breath,

because I will. I’ll love you the rest of our lives on earth,

and then some. I’ll protect you, now and forever, come what may.

Just—choose me.”

“I choose you, my darling Bear.”

These are the reasons why I love all books by Ms. Eck!  I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.  I’m thinking we haven’t seen the end of the MC or our characters.

Re-Cap

Elle escapes her captives and now J and her must hide in Mexico with Fernie.  They need to stay on the down low and out of sight of whoever is trying to hurt J by taking Elle.  This gives them time to reaffirm their love and talk about what the future holds for them.

In my arms, I took her suffering, and engulfed her with my love.

For this woman, I'd endure infinite amounts of agony so she could unravel in the safety of my arms.

They need to wait it out until Burns can be taken care of and the MC brought back from dangerous hands.

It doesn’t matter where they hide because for some reason trouble keeps popping up during the most unexpected times putting both J and Elle in danger.

Wrap-Up

On one hand I’m sad to see these two characters go – through this trilogy they have grown on me and have a special place in my heart.  But the on the other hand – it’s great to see what the future may hold for these characters.
